Time Inc. Launches Centralized Digital Video Production Unit Names J.R. McCabe Senior Vice President of Video

NEW YORK, NY(November 28, 2012)– Time Inc. today announced the launch of a new, centralized digital video unit, which will manage digital video production, development and strategy across Time Inc. brands. The unit will be managed by J.R. McCabe, who has been appointed to the new role of Senior Vice President, Video effective immediately. Mr. McCabe reports to Todd Larsen, Executive Vice President and Group President, News and Sports at Time Inc., who is overseeing the new unit for the Company.

“This is a growth priority for Time Inc. and we’re investing in people, capabilities and studio space,” said Mr. Larsen. “Digital video is one of the fastest growing categories for advertisers and with our scale and breadth of quality journalism; we think we can make an impact. We also think we can bring our brands to life for consumers in compelling ways with signature digital programming.”

He added, “There is a lot of exciting thinking in our brands about digital video, and we believe by providing a centralized video resource we can really capitalize on our editorial strength. J.R. is the perfect person to spearhead this effort; he has experience developing digital video that appeals to consumers, and he knows how to engage advertisers in new ways through this growing medium.”

Mr. McCabe joins Time Inc. from Meredith Corporation, where he served as VP/Chief Video Officer. In his new role at Time Inc., he will be responsible for growing the volume of digital video products across the company, developing quality video that helps extend the brands of Time Inc. titles and identifying new channels of distribution. The existing video teams will be consolidated under Mr. McCabe and will work closely with editorial teams at the brands and the sales force as they build the business.

In over six years at Meredith, Mr. McCabe helped build and launch Meredith Video Studios (MVS). He oversaw all business development, branded entertainment development and sales, broadband video sales, syndication and ad sales for MVS. During his tenure he and his team created and distributed original video content for Meredith’s major brands across digital platforms such as websites, tablet devices, mobile, and broadcast television. One of the developments under McCabe was the first-of-its-kind national VOD network, Parents TV. Prior to Meredith, Mr. McCabe led the Eastern regional syndication sales team for CBS Paramount Television in New York. Earlier, he spent seven years at Universal Studios Television Distribution in several roles, including building the branded entertainment initiative for the division prior to the NBCUniversal merger.
