Time Inc. Names Todd Larsen Executive Vice President and Group President, News and Sports

(NEW YORK) – Time Inc. today named Todd Larsen Executive Vice President and Group President, News and Sports, effective September 17. In this role he will manage the operations of Time Inc.’s News Business unit, including TIME, FORTUNE, Money, CNNMoney.com and TIME for Kids; and the Sports Illustrated Group, which includes SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, SI.com, Golf, Golf.com and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED KIDS. He will report to Laura Lang, CEO of Time Inc.

“Todd is a dynamic leader who was an early proponent of a multi-platform approach to business in his years at Dow Jones,” commented Ms. Lang. “His expertise in developing and nurturing successful paid digital business models and in expanding products internationally will be critical to us as we move our business forward. I am especially pleased he will be heading our News and Sports units, which are home to key Time Inc. brands and franchises that are ripe for expansion in new markets and on new platforms.”

Before joining Time Inc., Mr. Larsen spent 13 years at Dow Jones & Company, most recently serving as President. In that role, he directed the Company’s global business operations including those of The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, Factiva and Dow Jones Newswires.

Mr. Larsen was a key architect of the Company’s paid digital strategy and helped build a pioneering paid business model for The Wall Street Journal on the Web, mobile and tablet computers. He was also part of a team that oversaw the Journal’s transformation into a more complete newspaper with additional national and international news, sports, opinion and culture to complement its premier business and financial coverage. Mr. Larsen also drove Dow Jones’ strategy to expand world-wide with products emphasizing local content in the global context.

Earlier, Mr. Larsen served as chief operating officer of the Company’s Consumer Media Group, where he was responsible for strategy, marketing, circulation, business development and financial management for consumer products such as the Journal, MarketWatch and Barron’s around the globe. Before that, he was president of Dow Jones’ Consumer Electronic Publishing division. He joined Dow Jones in 1999 as the corporate director of strategic planning and development.

Before joining Dow Jones, he was a senior associate in the Communications, Media and Technology practice of Booz, Allen & Hamilton in New York. At Booz Allen, Mr. Larsen managed client projects in the book publishing network and cable television and professional sports industries. Prior to Booz Allen he spent five years in the advertising business at Saatchi & Saatchi and Jordan, McGrath.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He lives in Mamaroneck, New York with his wife and daughters.
