Expands Style Network with Fast-Growing, Social-First Brands for Millennial Women

Oct 27, 2015

New York, NY (October 27, 2015) – Time Inc. (NYSE:TIME) today announced the acquisition of xoJane and xoVain, digital sites for millennial women, from Say Media. Founded by Editor-in-Chief Jane Pratt, the sites reach more than 10 million readers a month.* Launched in 2011 and 2013, respectively, xoJane and its companion beauty site xoVain are at the forefront of blending editorial and user-generated content. The sites have a highly engaged community of contributors, who share personal stories and points of view around everything from fashion and beauty to politics, culture, relationships and everyday life.

“We are excited to welcome Jane and the xo community to the Time Inc. family,” Time Inc. EVP Evelyn Webster said. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve this modern, inclusive community of women, increasing our reach in this important segment and providing our advertising partners with more access to targeted, engaged audiences.”

With the addition of xoJane and xoVain, the Time Inc. Style Network will rank #5 in size in comScore’s beauty/fashion/style category.

“We’re thrilled to join Time Inc. and for this opportunity to bring new readers to xoJane and xoVain,” Pratt said. “We are looking forward to expanding our coverage of fashion, beauty and entertainment, while continuing to grow our audience and our engagement at an exciting pace.”

Pratt will continue as Editor-in-Chief, and she and her editorial team will join Time Inc., reporting to Vice President, General Manager Time Inc. Style Network Deborah Marquardt. xoJane and xoVain will remain on Tempest, Say Media’s publishing platform.

Since becoming an independent public company last year, Time Inc. has been leveraging its brands, content and audiences into new revenue streams. Recently, the company acquired HelloGiggles, a mobile and social-first millennial women’s brand covering pop culture, relationships, beauty, fashion and other lifestyle. It purchased inVNT, a company that specializes in live media, and created Sports Illustrated Play, a new business devoted to youth and amateur sports. Time Inc. also acquired UK Cycling Events (UKCE), a leading UK provider of premium cycling events, and FanSided, a sports, entertainment and lifestyle network of more than 300 websites with a collective audience of approximately 15 million monthly unique visitors.
