Time Inc. Ups Duo to Oversee Original Programming and Branded Entertainment

New York, NY (September 21, 2015) – Mike Beck and Ian Orefice have been promoted to Senior Executive Producer for Time Inc. Video. It was announced by J.R. McCabe, Time Inc. SVP, Video to whom they will continue to report. Beck and Orefice, together oversee original video programming, branded entertainment, development and productions across all platforms and channels for Time Inc.’s US brand portfolio. These promotions reflect the outstanding work of both Beck and Orefice, who have helped build the company’s video programming, infrastructure and operations. Their work has been instrumental in driving triple-digit year-over-year percentage growth in viewership and has received across-the-board critical acclaim. These promotions further position Time Inc. to expand and diversify its video operation and keep the business on its growth trajectory.

Beck has been named Senior Executive Producer, Development and Production. His team will have operational oversight of all Time Inc. Video studios in New York (including the new studios at 225 Liberty St.), in Birmingham and on the West Coast. His team will also coordinate all editorial, native and branded content productions. Beck will also manage the development strategy that will serve as an internal resource for all Time Inc. editorial video teams. Beck will coordinate a sweeping effort to develop original content projects with external production partners. Beck joined Time Inc. in 2007 and produced some of the company’s first digital series. He also built Time Inc.’s branded content video business into the best-in-class shop that it is today, producing programs for Time Inc. blue chip clients.

 

Orefice, an Emmy, Peabody and Webby Award winner, has been named Senior Executive Producer, Original and Current Programming. He will develop and execute programming based on the video content strategy that continues to bring Time Inc.’s storied franchises to life through video across all platforms, including digital, TV and OTT. This includes management of an in-house editorial production staff, as well as relationships with co-production partners. Notably, Orefice oversaw the company’s first-ever live daily program (SI Now powered by Ford) and executive produced more than 25 hours of shows across broadcast and cable networks. His first role at Time Inc. was Executive Producer for Sports Illustrated Video, where he created the brand’s award-winning video production unit, setting the stage for the upcoming Sports Illustrated Films initiative. From there he took on an extended brand portfolio, including Time, Fortune and Money. In that role, he executive produced notable and award-winning productions of Time’s documentary film unit, Red Border Films, while each brand also set records in overall video traffic. Prior to joining Time Inc. Orefice launched and produced video programming for CNNMoney. 

 

Time Inc. Video is enjoying across-the-board growth in programming and viewership. According to the August 2015 comScore data, the company’s video UVs are up 157% year over year, and total videos started are up 399% year over year. “Sports Illustrated Films” is one of several Time Inc. premieres set for the fall. Last month, Time Inc. debuted “New Orleans Here & Now,” the first premium video content produced and distributed by Time Inc. in partnership with Rampante. Later this year, Time Inc. will cut the ribbon on new production studios in the company’s new Manhattan headquarters.
