Time Inc.’s Extra Crispy Announces The BreakFestival In New York City This Labor Day Weekend

Teams Up with Jimmy Carbone of CookOut NYC, Food Karma Projects and Jimmy’s No. 43

Jul 12, 2016

NEW YORK, NY (July 12, 2016) — Time Inc.’s (NYSE:TIME) new breakfast vertical, Extra Crispy, today announced its first-ever BreakFestival, a two-day event celebrating all things breakfast that is scheduled to take place in New York City on September 3 4 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Extra Crispy is partnering with Jimmy Carbone of CookOut NYC, Food Karma Projects and Jimmy’s No. 43 to present the BreakFestival.

The BreakFestival will bring breakfast lovers to Stuyvesant Cove Park on the Manhattan waterfront for two full days of breakfast-centric events featuring all-star chefs, influencers and live music. More than 20 chefs and food companies—including Butter & Scotch, Ends Meat NYC, Colson Patisserie, Arancini Bros, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, Burnside Biscuits and City Bakery—plan to showcase their best breakfast bites at this all-inclusive event taking place during Labor Day Weekend.

Meredith Turits, Senior Strategist, Brand Development at The Foundry, said, “Extra Crispy celebrates every facet of breakfast and brunch, and we’re excited to bring an experiential element to our passionate audience. The BreakFestival brings the best of the breakfast world off the screen and onto the streets for a weekend of culture, music, and, most important, food.”

Jimmy Carbone said, “Food Karma Projects has a great tradition of partnering with some of the city’s best up-and-coming chefs, food purveyors and creative event producers, and we know that Extra Crispy’s The BreakFestival will make a great addition to the food-centric events we’re known for. This two-day festival will feature chef competitions and food stations offering breakfast favorites and inspired cocktails and drinks.”

Throughout the event, Extra Crispy will pay homage to breakfast and brunch essentials with themed booths, tournaments and tastings centered around Bloody Marys, breakfast sandwiches, bacon, coffee, and more. Up to ten food stations are expected to feature rotating chefs and food personalities serving breakfast classics like French toast, bacon and breakfast meats, biscuits, bagels/bialys and breakfast foods from around the world. Beer, cider and cocktails will also be available.

Solar One, a solar energy education nonprofit, is the charitable partner for the event.
