New Editors for Shooting Times and Sporting Gun

Mar 2, 2015

LONDON, February 26, 2015 – Time Inc. UK today announces two important editorial appointments on its market-leading shooting titles, Shooting Times and Sporting Gun. Joe Dimbleby, editor of Sporting Gun, will leave the title to take up the position of editor at Shooting Times and Kate Gatacre, Shooting Times’s deputy editor, will take the reins at Sporting Gun.

Joe joined the Shooting Times editorial team six years ago, prior to his promotion to the role of Sporting Gun editor in 2014 and will now become the 17th editor in Shooting Times’s 133-year history. Joe takes over from Alastair Balmain, who is leaving in April to pursue a career in the media technology sector.

Kate has been part of the Shooting Times editorial team for nine years and will become the fifth editor of Sporting Gun, the UK’s best-selling monthly shooting title. Kate is an enthusiastic rifle shooter and deerstalker who sits on the UK CIC trophy judging panel.

Fiona Mercer, publisher of Time Inc. UK’s shooting portfolio, says: “I am delighted that we have such talented individuals within the shooting portfolio who can take over the reins on these two historic and market leading brands. Joe has done a brilliant job on Sporting Gun over the past year. He will do an equally good job on Shooting Times.

“Kate is a true country woman and I am confident she will continue to ensure Sporting Gun remains the market- leading monthly brand it has been since launch and continue to grow its digital reach. I was very sorry to accept Alastair’s resignation as he has done a fantastic job on Shooting Times, ensuring it remains ‘the shooting man’s Bible’ and a trusted brand within the shooting community. I wish him every success in his new role.”

Joe Dimbleby adds: “It is an honour to be taking on the editorship of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious shooting title. I’m pleased to hand over to someone of Kate’s calibre. She will do a fantastic job taking Sporting Gun forward.”

Kate Gatacre says: “I’m thrilled to be taking on such an exciting role. Sporting Gun epitomises the sort of shooting I enjoy the most. I’m looking forward to working with the contributors, who are passionate and knowledgeable people.”

Joe and Kate will start their new roles in April.
