Time Inc. Continues to Lead Industry with its Commanding Audience of More Than 392 Million

People Boasts Largest Audience Among All Magazine Media Brands at 81 Million

NEW YORK, March 2, 2015 – Time Inc. continues to lead the magazine media industry with a total gross audience of over 392 million across its multi-platforms and formats, as evidenced by the latest Association of Magazine Media (MPA) Brand Audience Report*. The report covers 151 magazine media brands from 34 companies, representing 95% of the reader universe, for the January 2015 period. The brands across Time Inc.’s portfolio are represented in every category when it comes to monthly audience, reinforcing the company’s clearly defined category leadership.

 

Some highlights:

 

 

 

Three Time Inc. brands rank in the total brand audience top ten lists with People being the clear leader with 81 million, nearly double the audience size of the number two brand. With 42mm, Time ranks number six and Sports Illustrated has the number nine slot with 38mm in total brand audience.

People, Sports Illustrated and Time are among the highest performing magazine brands based on print and digital audience strength. People is the number one brand in this category with an audience of 44mm. Rounding out the top ten in this set are Sports Illustrated at number seven with 19mm and Time at number nine with more than 17mm.

For web traffic, People (over 11mm), Time (10mm), Sports Illustrated (7.5mm) and Entertainment Weekly (5.5mm) are ranked number three, four, five and nine when it comes to their unique visitor reach.

People leads the mobile web traffic category with nearly 25mm unique visitors, followed by Time at number four with 13mm uniques. Entertainment Weekly (10mm), and Sports Illustrated (8.5mm) are number six and number nine, respectively.

Sports Illustrated dominates video with 2.7mm unique viewers, followed by Time at number two with 1.6mm uniques. People and Entertainment Weekly rank at number five and number seven with 1.3mm and 900K unique viewers, respectively.

On year-on-year comparisons, many Time Inc. brands ranked in the top ten for their percentage growth across platforms.

 

Food & Wine‘s total brand audience grew by 33% driven by mobile web growth of 174% year-on-year and Web (desktop/laptop) growth of 67% year-on-year.

This Old House generated a 15% increase in print and digital ranking tenth.

Essence and All You garnered an 88% and 75% hike in unique visitors on the web. Essence and All You ranked numbers seven and ten in this category.

Sports Illustrated and Time rounded out the top ten set for video growth with unique viewership climbing 116% and 60%, respectively.
