Ariel Foxman Promoted to Editorial Director of InStyle and StyleWatch

InStyle Publisher Nina Lawrence Assumes Oversight of StyleWatch Advertising

Jan 29, 2015

NEW YORK, January 29, 2015 – Time Inc. (NYSE:TIME) announced that Ariel Foxman has been promoted to Editorial Director, InStyle and StyleWatch, a new role at the company. In addition to remaining Editor of the InStyle brand—print, digital and all extensions—Foxman now oversees editorial direction and strategy for the StyleWatch brand. Effective immediately, the move broadens Foxman’s responsibilities substantially as Time Inc. prepares to extend its fashion footprint by bringing together a content, services and commerce platform under the InStyle umbrella. Foxman reports to Evelyn Webster, Time Inc. Executive Vice President. Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer Norman Pearlstine will have dotted line authority. Founding StyleWatch Editor Susan Kaufman is leaving the company. “We thank Susan for her service and contributions to StyleWatch and to Time Inc.,” Webster said.

To further align the fashion portfolio, InStyle publisher Nina Lawrence will assume oversight of StyleWatch. Stephanie Sladkus, Publisher of StyleWatch, will report to Lawrence.

Webster commented: “I am confident that Ariel’s deep understanding of the consumer, coupled with his creative vision and strong business acumen, will lead to growth and opportunity for the StyleWatch brand, as it has for InStyle. Nina’s expertise in delivering integrated solutions to advertisers will further strengthen Time Inc.’s growing fashion portfolio.”

Under Foxman, InStyle—the leading celebrity style media brand, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year—was twice named among the top five media brands of the year by Advertising Age, and in 2015 was named Fashion Media Brand of the Year by The Daily Front Row. Lawrence joined InStyle in 2014, after serving as Vice President of Global Marketing, Advertising Sales for The Wall Street Journal. Previously, she spent more than 15 years as a publisher at Condé Nast, including her last seven as Vice President and Publisher of W.

Founded in 2007, StyleWatch—recognized as one of the most successful launches of the past decade—was first introduced in 2002 as a special newsstand edition of PEOPLE. Publisher Stephanie Sladkus was promoted to the post in 2011, after serving for one year as Associate Publisher.
