MEREDITH SECURES AFFILIATIONS WITH MYNETWORKTV and CW
Digital channel added in Flint/Saginaw to launch new network

DES MOINES, IA (May 8, 2006) – Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP) today announced that Meredith Broadcasting Group has secured a MyNetworkTV affiliation for the Flint-Saginaw-Bay City market. WNEM-TV, Meredith’s CBS affiliate there, will launch the new network on a digital channel.

“Adding a new network gives WNEM-TV the opportunity to extend its brand even further in the Flint, Saginaw and Bay City market,” said Al Blinke, Vice President and General Manager of the station. “We look forward to reaching a new viewer audience with MyNetworkTV.”

WNEM-TV is the third Meredith station to sign with MyNetworkTV since its formation in January. Stations KPDX-TV, a UPN affiliate in Portland (OR), and KSMO-TV, currently the WB affiliate in Kansas City, have also affiliated with MyNetworkTV, the new network being created by FOX’s 20th Television. It will launch in September.

WFLI-TV, Meredith’s WB affiliate in Chattanooga, will be an affiliate of CW, the new network being created by Warner Brothers and CBS.

“We believe these are excellent arrangements for these particular markets,” said Paul Karpowicz, Meredith Broadcasting Group President. “We like the MyNetworkTV affiliations because it not only gives us exciting new programming from FOX, but also the flexibility to devote more primetime hours to local news, sports and other programming. This will mean more locally-generated revenue, as well.

“In Chattanooga, we are excited to be bringing local viewers the combination of the best WB and UPN programming that CW will offer, in addition to new shows it will create,” Karpowicz continued. “It’s perfect for the programming needs of this market.”
