September 25, 2006 (NEW YORK)Traditional Home Editor-in-Chief Ann Omvig Maine, along with co-host CBS news anchor Hannah Storm, will host the magazine’s Classic Woman Awards gala in New York City on October 12. The event honors recipients of the magazine’s second annual Classic Woman Awards, a signature program that celebrates the spirit of volunteerism by recognizing standout charitable women from across the country. These women will also be featured in the magazine’s November 2006 “Classic Woman” issue. Storm’s Connecticut home is featured in the issue.

In the magazine’s March issue, Maine invited Traditional Home’s 4.2 million readers to nominate a woman who is making a positive difference in her community. The magazine’s editorial staff evaluated, regarded and reviewed nominations and chose five women to honor who truly are changing the world one day, one person at a time.

“There’s a synergy between our Classic Woman Awards and the readers of Traditional Home,” says Maine. “Our readers, as well as many of the women whose homes we feature in our pages, embody the same selfless caring spirit this program honors. Hannah Storm, with her philanthropic work and dedication to breaking down gender barriers, is a natural extension of the Classic Woman Awards spirit and the ideal co-host.”

“The opportunity to continue our Classic Woman Awards program is one we are so grateful for and the overwhelming reader response makes it all the more amazing,” says Maine. “The award recipients, and all the nominees, display a depth of individual commitment that we are humbled by. The Classic Woman Awards give us an opportunity to give something back.”

Traditional Home Classic Woman Awards honorees and their causes are: Ginny Donohue, Syracuse, NY (On Point for College); Gloria Taylor, St. Louis, MO (Community Women Against Hardship); Jeanne Mozier, Berkeley Springs, WV (Morgan Arts Council); Susan Retik, Boston, MA (Beyond the 11th); and Kathy Feldt, St. Louis, MO (The Joy Foundation).

A Classic Woman Awards interview series will air on the Satellite Sisters radio program, the media partner for the 2006 awards. Satellite Sisters is hosting interviews with Executive Editor Marsha Raisch and each of the five Classic Woman Award recipients on Wednesdays from September 6 to October 11. A trailblazer in the truest sense of the word, Satellite Sisters is a three-hour program that features five real-life sisters who meet daily on a live national radio show. It can be heard on XM satellite radio (channel 155) and 90 local stations nationwide. The five Classic Woman Awards honorees will each receive a 3-day, 2-night trip to New York City, where they will be pampered at a New York city spa and honored at the Classic Woman Awards gala at TriBeCa Rooftop. The timeless singer and songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will perform. A special readers-only reception will precede the gala. In addition, each honoree’s chosen cause will receive a contribution from Traditional Home, plus proceeds from a silent auction on www.thclassicwoman2006.cmarket.com (September 8 - October 20).
