MEREDITH'S TRADITIONAL HOME MAGAZINE NAMES MITCHELL OWENS SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGN EDITOR

NEW YORK, NY (June 15, 2005) - Ann Maine, Editor-in-Chief of Traditional Home, today named Mitchell Owens as the magazine's New York-based Senior Interior Design Editor. In this position, Owens will be responsible for continuing the magazine's forward-thinking coverage of the homeowners and designers who represent a classic and modern style.

With more the 20 years experience as a magazine and newspaper editor and writer, Owens brings an extensive knowledge about style, design, gardening, travel, collecting and architecture to Traditional Home.. The move represents a homecoming for Owens, since he worked for Traditional Home in New York from 1996 to 1998.

"Mitch is one of the industry's most respected observers and I'm so happy that he has once again found his home at Traditional Home. I've missed his voice on our pages," commented Maine. "Mitch's deep understanding of design, his strong relationships in the community and his keen eye for discovering talent ahead of the curve will assure that we continue our leadership in the shelter category."

Owens was the Interior Design Director at ELLE Décor and has been a longtime contributor to The New York Times, where his articles on design, decorating and home improvement will continue to run. His work has appeared in a variety of national and international publications including Architectural Digest, The World of Interiors, Architektur und Wohnen, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Travel & Leisure, and The International Herald Tribune. Owens is also the editor of Elsie de Wolfe: The Birth of Modern Decoration,the first in a series of monographs about great 20th-century decorators. It was published by Acanthus Press in May 2005.

Owens, who recently returned to the United States after nearly two years in Morocco, attended Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina, where he majored in English literature. He and his partner, Matthew Zwissler, have a three-year-old daughter, Catherine, and live in an 1801 Federal farm house in Sharon Springs, N.Y.

He will be based in Meredith's New York offices at 125 Park Avenue.
